The way your mind works and processes experiences and information will have a profound impact on every aspect of your life. From the ability to succeed in your career to developing and maintaining fulfilling relationships, your psychological health is very important. Some people do well receiving therapy when a specific concern arises that’s easy to recognize and work through with a therapist. Others, may struggle to find the words for what they’re feeling or have difficulty getting the perspective necessary to develop self-awareness and understand their needs. If you know something feels “wrong” or you’re not seeing the results you want from therapy, psychological assessments in Palmetto, FL at Manatee Associates of Counseling & Assessment may be a good option.
When are Psychological Evaluations Recommended?
Psychological evaluations can be used to help people better understand the areas where they have struggled to regulate emotions, change negative thinking, or navigate complex interactions. If you’ve struggled with finding successful therapy solutions in the past, a psychological evaluation may be the right choice. Additionally, psychological assessments might be required to receive insurance coverage for prescriptions and other treatments (speech therapy, occupational therapy, etc.). Students may also need regular evaluations to receive classroom accommodations to ensure they are getting the support they need to succeed academically.
What Happens During Psychological Testing?
To help people understand their unique skills and areas of need, we’ll put together a comprehensive, custom battery of tests. In addition to written or computer testing, we may also ask you to perform tasks while we observe, sit down to discuss concerns during an interview, and ask you to discuss your emotional and physical health history. Once we’ve completed your assessments, we’ll put together all of the information in a report.
What Happens After Psychological Assessment?
Following your assessment, you’ll receive a copy of the report. Then, we’ll schedule a follow up appointment to discuss the information and answer any questions you may have. Based on the results, we may recommend a range of therapy solutions and other support resources to help you achieve your goals.
